So that's what RPS is...
Aug. 8th, 2008 11:48 pmI have a mini-rant about this post on
fanficrants that really pissed me off. I should have replied but the OP got enough shit from everyone else. It wasn't so much a rant as her bragging she got Jonas Brother incest fic taken down from FF.net. And it's not that I like Jonas Brother RPS or incest RPS. I don't. She said ALL RPF/RPS was the lowest form of fan fic and was nothing but the writer's masturbatory fantasy. No. Just no. Yeah, I know a lot people don't like it and it does seem to have a certain stigma attached compared to fic based on TV/movies/anime. I sure as hell never expected to be reading, let alone, writing it but it's not that. Yeah, my RPS hockey fics are smutty. Very smutty. But, I'd like to think they're about more than just sex. And if they aren't how are they any different than any of the fan fiction that's on AdultFanFiction.net? Or smut posted on LJ based on TV, movies or anime? Most of my old Hellsing fics are just as almost as smutty as my hockey fics. It just really irks me that she made a blanket statement about all RPS.

Date: 2008-08-15 05:23 am (UTC)I think I have to take back what I said about the RPF not being found unless you're looking for it because today a baseball slash (incest) writer got outed by a major sports blog (http://deadspin.com/5037110/you-will-never-think-of-the-drew-brothers-the-same-way-again). In this case, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the athletes got really disturbed because the stories deal with underage incest which would freak almost anyone out. That is one line I'd never cross, either with real people or even fictional characters. But, it takes on a whole new level of wrongness with real people. It should be interesting to see how this all plays out and if any legal action is taken.
I can understand your POV and I think I'd probably feel really uncomfortable if I had happened upon stories about my kids. I think it depends on the sexual attitudes and whether or not the story involves something taboo like incest.
On a side note, recently, I started talking online with someone who personally knows a few subjects of my stories (a female ) and reads my fics. She's told them about my stories and they either think it's funny or like the idea in a pervy way. But, maybe hockey players are more open sexually or just perverted. It definitely freaked me out a little when she told me she read some of my stuff to one of the guys.
