My extended medical leave reprieve from work ended today. I had to go back to work. Damn it was hard.  I know I had to go back but after 3 weeks...it was practically impossible.  The day wasn't  too bad and I'm not as tired as I'd have thought but I would so rather be home watching movies & anime and reading.

My hand is feeling pretty good although it is still a little sore. Guess that is to be expected though. It doesn't hurt when I type but when I have to write (as in by hand), it hurts quite a bit.

One of the best parts about being off for 3 weeks is I got to see a lot of movies/anime and read manga that I never would've had time for. I'm going to make more time life for movies and reading.  I tried to get a an elliptical exercise machine but my plans got foiled.  They failed to mention they could not deliver into my apt due to insurance. WTF? I have find a place that will because I can't exactly carry a machine over 150 lbs. Of course they didn't mention it when I called to arrange delivery. Grrrr.... I want an ellepitcal so I can lose weight. :(

I saw a bunch of movies that I'd been meaning to for awhile.  And yes, I know mostly everyone else has seen them but I take awhile to catch up.

I finally watched Crash. It really was an amazing film in every way. The acting was amazing and the the subject matter - well very thought provoking. I loved Terrence Howard in it. And I was surprised at Ryan Phillipe's performance. It was good.  I also watched Syriana.
Very intense movie and it was interesting to see George Clooney in a role that he didn't look particularly sexy in except that he is always sexy even when he's tries not to be.  The movie had such an intricate plot that it could be hard to follow  (but wasn't) if you weren't giving the paying attention.  It  really made me think about the US  and it's policies in the Middle East as well as how fucked up things are in the Middle East. Politics fucks so much shit up.  Another movie I watched that was unlike either of those two was Izo.  It was directed by Takashi Miike who happens to be my favorite Japanese director. He is most well known for his violent shock movies like Ichi The Killer and Audition but he also did Happiness of Katakuris which was like Hollywood musical set at a hotel where everyone dies.  Anyway... Izo is the "sequel" to the 1969 movie Samurai movie, Hitokiri.  It was probably one of the most violent and bizarre movies I've ever seen but interesting. From Wikepdia:  Miike's portrayal of the character (or rather his spirit) transcends reality (and time and space) and is more of a surrealist exposé of Izo's exceedingly bloody yet philosophical encounters in an afterlife heavy on symbolism.  Definetly not for the faint of heart.

I also got to watch some fansubs and am getting myself and my daughter addicted to some new series.

Shana. I downloaded the dual audio from Real Anime Extreme. I saw a good review on ANN and it sounded interesting even though the art style took some getting used to. Most of the characters are drawn with HUGE eyes. The characters are great even though it is a little crackish at times but in a good way. Swords and a book of revelations are used to defeat the bad guys. And the bad guys are awesome demon types that devour "existences" to gain power. The first villian had a doll fetish and the current villians are a young
incestuous brother/sister. Creepy but awesome. Real Anime Extreme has direct downloads for a lot of series they are encoding on their site and you don't have to register to download.  There's also a manga for Shana which I might upload.  I just started watching Bakumatsu Kikansetsu  Irohanihoheto which seems like a somewhat historically acurate samurai anime set in feudal Japan. I have a thing for anything samurai <3 and the characters are interesting.  A ronin and a theatre troupe pair up for revenge. And the art is so pretty.

I finally read The Historian which I bought myself for Christmas.  I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was different than what I thought it was a great read.

Also finally read all of X-1999 and I can't say how much I loved it. Clamp is just awesome espeically the way almost every character is bisexual. Damn it  - I want more X but there is no more. :(    I also started a new manga called Kain  which is reminds me a little of FMA but not really.

I want to get back into roleplay since I'm carpal tunnel free and am thinking of what character to apply for on [personal profile] polychromatic.
I kind of lost interest with Heinkel in addition to my surgery. I would like to RP someone who isn't Hellsing because I'm losing my interest in the series but maybe someone who could join the Hellsing organization. Maybe Saya or Solomon from Blood+?  I've also decided to start writing again. I miss it.

And thanks to  [profile] dracschick  for recommending Blood Ties. I never read the books but want to now. I am hooked on the series. Of course that could be because the actor who plays Henry is hot.

Glad that your hand is better ^_^ ._. Sucks you had to go back to work tho, I know it was hard for me going back after one week of freedom. XD

*nudges* Pick up The Cain Saga and Godchild >> << The fandom is too tiny and needs more supporters!

I'd do something like poly, but I don;t think I could handle the confus-edness of it.
