blahhhhh - ImageReady

I am really inept when it comes to Image Ready!  Don't know what it is. Just couldn't find out where to add frames for animation!   Spent all last night and finally gave up.  I wanted to make a LJ icon showing what a insanely evil monster Alucard was so I ended up downloading a freeware animation program and using that and did make an avatar.  Guess it works but I want to do it in Image Ready.  :(    If anyone  wants to tell me how I'd be so greatful I might even write a fic.

Are you trying to add frames or...? The reason I'm asking because I have Jasc Animation Shop 3

I was trying to add frames in Image Ready (part of Photoshop 7.0). If I open a GIF (in Image Ready), I can see the individual frames there but I can't figure out how to add them on a brand new document. Been trying to find a tutorial. But, I probably should just forget it as I found an easy freeware program to do what I need it to. Just not knowing drives me crazy...

hey - could you add me

Hey - could you "freind" me? I like reading your posts and you have such a nifty Alucard icon. *smirk* I tried commenting on your LJ but couldn't...

I'll add you too if ya want. I write smutfics that are freinds only.

When you add new frames in ImageReady, the current top layer (under the "layers" thingy) is going to be the one viewable in the frame. Add a new frame, and you have to have a new top layer/visible layer.

...I'm not sure if that made any sense. I'll try and get screencaps to show you.

So do you add a frame by adding a layer? I'm pretty good at understanding layers as I do ok in Photoshop. Just never used Image Ready till now.

If you could get any screencaps I will worship you like a god. *bows*

First one:
Here

The visible layer is the one that's going to show up in the frame.

To get a new image showing in a new frame, make sure to select that frame, while either checking that the layer you want to see is the only ones visibile (simpler), or the layer on the top (a bit more complicated, since it gets your layers out of order).

See? A new frame, and the only visible layer is the one I want showing up.

To control the time each frame will be seen for, you click at the bottom of the frame, where it says something like 1 sec., or 0 sec

As here

Hope that helps!

I worship your graphics skills *bows* Thanks sooooo much for your help. I finally figured this out. I just noticed *palm hits head* that there is a little arrow thingy on the right side of the animation window and when you click it gives you an option for adding a frame. OMFG I am such an idiot. Then I still had problems with when I copied and pasted (it was changing all the frames at first). But, finally I got it figured out. *does happy dance* Thanks again for your help. Your screen shots helped me figure it out. So I will be uploading my new icon and will be making many more. Thanks again to you. You are the best.

I'll work on your fic as soon as I'm done Thess's (Sir_Hellsing's). I'll make it a good one. *By the way there is a uberdark RipxAlucard one that Thess wrote for me - it is in my memories. Is so so good.
