feeling inferior

I am feeling like I must suck at writing...the story I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] winkinblinkin - Fallen Angel, a threesome R-rated smutish fic only got 1 star on AFF.net. I spent a good deal of time on the fic. And it got 2 good reviews...I just don't get it at all. It may not have been my best work but I worked hard on trying to make it IC and as believable as Hellsing 3-way smut can be. I don't think it was that bad...
But, maybe it does suck. Or is it that people don't like the ANxSxI pairing?

Aww, Kelia! Darling, of all places in all the world, I wouldn't call AFF.net a basis of reviews to rely on. What maters is that winkinblinkin liked it and that you felt you did as well as you could.

If anything, I think that people aren't too keen on the pairing.

Thanks ^___^ I just do try so hard to write IC and make it interesting. I just wish whoever gave it a rating would've left a review on what they didn't like. I was just feeling sorry for myself but feel better now.

Nope. Nuh-uh. Not going there.

You should never base your opinion of your writing on reviews - whether good or bad. If you enjoyed writing the story, then it's a damn good story. It might not be the next Great American Novel, in fact people might hate it and tell you to get it off the Internet, but that doesn't take away any of its value or validity to you, the author.

Getting off my soapbox... of course you're not a bad writer. To the contrary: you're a very good writer (especially compared to the bunch of monkeys out there who are absolutely convinced that Alucard must have sweet, fluffy sex with Seras all night), you keep characters IC, there aren't many grammatical errors in your stories, and you actually have ideas that make sense within canon.
I get the idea that, despite the profusion of blood'n'guts in the manga and anime, quite a few Hellsing fans are a bit leery of the idea of threesomes. I haven't seen many three-way pairing fics around.

Awww thanks you did make me feel better. I know I shouldn't even care especially being the source (AFF). Guess it's just because I want to be a GREAT writer someday. I just realized that writing is what I should done with my life and now I want to pursue that goal. Now to get enrolled in college and take some writing courses. You could be right about the threesomes. I need to get my mind out of the gutter and write some other fics. Just the smutbunnies get inside my head and are impossible to ignore.

You are a good writer too. Congrats on getting your fic added to the Hellsing C2 site.

Smutbunnies! I think you've just coined a new word... Considering their name, no wonder they reproduce so fast.
It's amazing that you're pursuing your dream, no matter when you realized it. I know plenty of adults who'd be too frightened to change their lives, and many others who never even learn what it is they really want to do.
